So my PhD thesis passed today

When I submitted my PhD thesis back in December, I was informed it would take around three months to get reports back from the assessors. So I figured I’d hear late March.

When I found out the thesis hadn’t submitted properly in January and fixed everything, they reiterated that I could take about three months to hear back. I reset my expectations to April and went on with other things.

Today, my supervisor texted me saying “Congratulations! You passed!”

There are corrections—relatively minor stuff that will probably take me a weekend or two to process—and there’s still the question whether I’ll need to do an oral defence of the thesis, but it legitimately looks like I might have actually earned myself a PhD in writing nerdery.
